48-200 Architecture Design Studio: Composition

Second Year Fall 2014

Advised by Jonathan Kline

In collaboration with Josh Kim, June Kim, Edward Shin, Annabelle Swain,  and Kyle Wing

The goal of the project was to design and construct a portable greenhouse to extend the growing season of a raised planting bed in a community garden in Larimer, PA.

Our design, consisting of a gridded modular structure, aimed to maximize ease of use and function while allowing for perennial availability. The conduit framework would provide a growing structure for the plants throughout the year, while removable plastic sheets would provide additional protection when necessary. An additional cube module was provided for plants growing beyond the 3 foot height of the first level.
